About the Book

Approaching Neverland is the story of a family growing up in the 60’s and 70’s that deals with their mother’s mental illness, the murder of a sibling, gender identification, Alzheimers and AIDS with unconditional compassion, sick Irish humor and unbreakable family bonds. In the midst of all this tragedy and loss, the main character finds undying love and her happily-ever-after.

    I am Valorie (Furtado) Hall and I went to San Leandro High with your brother Pat. Thank you for writing your story. I know this doesn’t seem real but your story is also my story.The details range from very similar to identical. To relive what was a difficult time in my life through your book has been like a journey home. You see, my Mother was also mentally ill with the same disease. In fact she stayed at the same hospitals as your Mother at the same time. I would love to contact your brother Pat.
